not good enough?

This world is full of people who are connected to you in some or the other way. Some make you happy. Some make you sad. You will meet both kind. It’s on you how you take those people in your life.

Here’s a story to depict what i have to say.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Lizzie was a normal teenager. She was conscious about herself like every other teenager on this planet. She had dreams and fantasies. She had a few good friends as well who really loved her and cared about her. But she had a huge self esteem problem. She struggled to know the reason to it. She was popular in her school, her friends liked her. She easily communicated with people and was a very kind girl at heart.

One day, her best friend Lucy, who was wondering the same thing came to her house to complete an assignment. And what she witnessed there gave her all the answers she needed. Lizzie’s family. Lizzie’s father was a rich businessman who had no time for family. He only gave her money to buy whatever she needed. Lizzie’s mother was too occupied with her family issues including her sisters and all. So she had little time for Lizzie but still she loved Lizzie dearly and always encouraged her to do what she wanted. Lizzie’s cousin sister who lived with her was, for some reason the core reason. She treated Lizzie as a useless little thing. She treated as if Lizzie was a huge liability and that she could never do anything right. This hurt Lizzie. Lizzie tried to do everything right but one small mistake and she would have to listen to endless nagging about her stupidity. Whenever something major happened in her life, she would be the most excited to tell her family. But the kind of reaction she got from all of them made her think maybe she was not good enough. Moreover Lizzie never discussed all this even with her best friend Lucy. Lucy tried to talk to her but she always changed the topic. After her graduation, when she looked for a job and got one, nobody in her house appreciated her. As if she was just doing them a favour by working . Nobody was ever interested in what was her life like.

A few months later Lucy got a call informing her that Lizzie had passed away due to taking too many sleeping pills. When her room was searched , they found her diary in which the last words written were, “am i not good enough?”

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I wanted to convey through this story that sometimes people closest to you knowingly or unknowingly say things and do things which have a deep impact. People who are supposed to make you happy sometimes shatter you. It’s not because you are not good enough.
